Lobby Lamp
Lobby Lamp is a spatial device creating atmospheres through light and shadow.
In the lobby of the collective housing building, we sought to create a welcoming, atmospheric space that reflects the building’s unique character. To achieve this, we collaborated with the artist-designer Jakob Hentze, who designed a custom-made pattern for the floor tiles—a striking visual element that grounds the space.
Taking inspiration from Hentze's pattern, we extended its influence upward, transforming his original pattern into a bespoke stainless steel lamp. This reinterpretation of the design not only illuminates the lobby but also turns light into a creative medium. The intricate pattern of the lamp modulates light as it passes through, projecting dynamic shadows onto the walls.
The Lobby Lamp is more than just a lighting fixture—it is a spatial device that redefines the role of light in architecture. By combining artistic collaboration, material innovation, and careful craftsmanship, the lamp brings depth, texture, and a sense of wonder to the lobby, making it an engaging space for residents and visitors alike.
