A “Living Bridge” connects the two towns of Tancos and Arripiado integrating different functions. As a living bridge it does not only connect the two urban settlements but also creates a new urban plaza in the middle of the river. It gathers the functions of observation platform for the well-known Castle of Almourol (from the Temple Order), a café, a restaurant, an exhibition space and a small hotel.
The form of the bridge was inspired by the curves of the river and the small bays that are created naturally. On the bridge the bays allow the inclusion of functions and according to the expansible construction system new functions can be added in the future.
The bridge is expected to be a attraction magnet for the region.
